Who
is the holder?
The
author is the person who holds the copyright unless the work
was carried out in the course of employment. In this case, the
employer holds the copyright unless there is a waiver in the
employee’s contract.
The
author used to hold copyright for 50 years.
This
has been lengthened to 70 years from the end of the year of
the author’s death.
Copyright
for broadcast works is still held for 50 years.
The
author can destroy any defence by encouraging or allowing
someone to use the work.
